I am an Obama Supporter, and I URGE Barack to take Hillay on as Veep

I heard Barack Obama's speech in October of 2002 in Federal Plaza and was sold.

I supported him and donated to his campaign for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in 2003/2004, then donated to and supported his run for the Senate after winning the nomination.

I became an Obama for President donor the day he announced his candidacy from the steps of the State House in Springfield.

And I URGE Barack Obama to pick Hillary Clinton for his running mate.

The People, United, Will Never Be Defeated.

a segment of Hillary's voters won't support Obama (2.00 / 1)

the all or nothing camp won't unite.  period.

just look at the diaries and jerome's nonsense.

voters won't support Obama (2.00 / 1)

But the ones who do move to Barack if she is Veep will be very enthusiastic, again.  I personally feel that it is too low of a position for her considering that more registered in the party voted for her, but if that is what she wants and gets, it would be the thing that would help me decide to vote for him as opposed to not voting, and I am sure others share my feelings.

I want to agree with you (none / 0)

I do.

nothing would make me happier.

But post after post, diary after diary, jerome after jerome, have posted over and over again, on clinton leaning blogs that they're not open to voting for Obama, even Hillary is veep.

on an objective basis, how else can I judge those words, other than sincere.

you are maybe one of the handful of exceptions.  but even now, you - yourself - say being on the ticket would only be significant factor, but alas not dispositive.

Re: I want to agree with you (2.00 / 1)

No, as it stands now, if she were on the ticket I would vote for them.  Not saying I won't if she isn't.  Just not as decisive to me as if she is.

Count me in Scotch. (none / 0)

I am in exactly in the same boat you are. Barack Obama's speech last night was a good start. Voting for John McCain is not an option for me, but I am going to have to see something from BO that will convince me to vote at all this year. Asking Hillary to be VP, whether she accepts or not, would show me that he is willing to set aside his personal feelings for the good of the party and the country.

Re: I am an Obama Supporter, and I URGE Barack to (2.00 / 1)

I hear what you're saying but I think it's not a good idea to act quickly and there needs to be full consideration of the advantages and, yes, disadvantages of such a pick.

Thank you Walt (2.00 / 2)

I fully support an Obama/Clinton '08 unity party ticket too.

That lady was dynamite tonight.

She will be on the ticket one way or the other.

Thats my belief.

No Hillary (2.00 / 1)

Her narcissim knows no bounds.

Newsweek's Howard Fineman just said on MSNBC at 8:35pm Eastern that the Clinton campaign is demanding that Hillary be offered the VP position, which she will then decline, and then Fineman quotes the Clinton campaign as saying "don't you dare offer it to another woman." Isn't that special. Apparently, Hillary was only planning on breaking her own personal glass ceiling. For the rest of you, you can break you own.

Re: No Hillary (2.00 / 2)

Yeah and Howard Fineman has the exact inside story, just like all of them got it right what she would say tonight.  Not.

That was hillarious (none / 0)

Both MSNBC and CNN got it wrong, and looked truly flustered. I loved it. In one fell swoop, they exposed themselves, and left dubious impressions about the accuracy of their reporting on her all season long.

Or put another way, for once they got it right.

Re: No Hillary (none / 0)

Didn't Fineman also say that Obama's people were telling him that Obama only wanted to offer her the position if he knew in advance that she wouldn't accept? I'm an Obama supporter, and that didn't make me very happy. "Sounds like they're both raving egoists," I said to my wife. I hope Fineman's sources are both full of poo.

I think Hillary probably knows (none / 0)

that putting another woman on the ticket would further enrage her supporters, instead of appeasing them. Another woman didn't get nearly half of the Democratic primary votes, and many would see it as an insult, not an attempt to appease them.

Re: I am an Obama Supporter, and I URGE Barack to (none / 0)

I really hope not.  I think give things time to cool down a bit, and HRC's leverage slowly slips away.  Just wait her out.

Barack doesn't need to unify the party ~ if you are truly a democrat, i.e., you care about 'democratic' values, WHY would you vote for a republican or not vote??  Why??

either your democratic principles aren't that strong or your into some sort of cult of personality ~

the nominee should be given his choice; the standard-bearer of the party should never have his hand forced BY the party!

Re: I am an Obama Supporter, and I URGE Barack to (2.00 / 2)

wow.  just wow

people LOSE big time if they don't hold out their hands and ask for your vote.

people LOSE big time if they take the stance that hey, who else are you going to vote for?

they could just stay home and NOT vote.

Obama is more politically savvy than you.  He will ask and he will campaign and he won't take any democrat for granted.

thank god you are not on his campaign staff.

Re: I am an Obama Supporter, and I URGE Barack to (none / 0)

Demanding to be put on the ticket under threat only diminishes Hillary Clinton and it diminishes Obama if he caves into it.

Tonight was not the way Clinton should've began the VP process if she was truly interested in it. Not in any way shape or form.

Who is this Hillay?

Re: I am an Obama Supporter, and I URGE Barack to (none / 0)

Hillary made it harder for her to get the vp nomination tonight by reiterating her set of bogus claims on the popular vote and by not doing the normal, gracious thing and conceding.

It reminded me of the Jon Stuart bit where HRC is in the background on the day of the swearing-in, waving a sign about how she's going to win.

Bose Headphones (none / 0)

As I heard tonight on CNN, Hillary Clinton would be the Bose noise canceling headphones to his message of change.

This does not mean that she isn't a great woman, Senator or even that she would not be a good president.

It just means he looses much of the legitimacy of his change message with her.

But we agree.  Finally.
I do hope we get to work together, both of us with something in hand.
John McCain says he would stay in Iraq for 100 years? That's crazy talk!
