I heard Barack Obama's speech in October of 2002 in Federal Plaza and was sold.
I supported him and donated to his campaign for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in 2003/2004, then donated to and supported his run for the Senate after winning the nomination.
I became an Obama for President donor the day he announced his candidacy from the steps of the State House in Springfield.
And I URGE Barack Obama to pick Hillary Clinton for his running mate.

When Utah announces its add-on he should have nine.
The fund raising machine first pioneered by Howard Dean, then utilized by John Kerry has proven extremely effective for Barack Obama.
Online contributions for Obama began on February 10,2007. This was the day he announced his candidacy and the first time I made a donation. At the end of January, 2008, Obama had 256,000 donations for the month. February ended with 727,000 donations bringing his total to 983,000 for the year.
Late last night, Obama reached 1,983,000 donations for 2008. That means as of now, he has broken the 1,000,000 donation mark for March with nine days to go in the month.
The money game is vastly important to politics, and Barack Obama is clearly the single best fund raiser ever in American History. He set the record for funds raised in a single month last month, and will explode that record this month.
In the first month of the year, he broke his own record hauling in $36.5 million with 256,000 donations.
In February he blew that record out of the water with $55 million in receipts from 727,000 individual contributions.
The real story of the Clinton fund raising and financial management is hidden deep within the numbers.
It all lookms good on the surface, but the problems surface when you start trying to figure out how much she has to spend on the primary.
First, the summary...
I have to say, John McCain does demonstrate a modicum of character...

Categories: McCainMcCain aide circulates Obama/Wright video, is suspended
An aide to John McCain was suspended from the campaign today for blasting out an inflammatory video that raises questions about Barack Obama's patriotism.
Soren Dayton, who works in McCain's political department, sent out the YouTube link of "Is Obama Wright?" on twitter at 12:31 today with the tag, "Good video on Obama and Wright." It has since been taken down.
Twitter is an online device that allows users to send out short messages and links en masse through computers or PDAs.
McCain and his campaign have repeatedly said that they would stay away from personal attacks on Obama, but the temptation has increased as Wright's words have dominated the race in recent days.
Today's Rasmussen daily tracking poll has Obama back up by 5 with Obama picking up 47% and Clinton at 42%.
Looks like there was a bump in the road, but when Obama escorted Wright off the bus (as opposed to throwing him under it), people apparently responded.
It'll be interesting to watch how this all unfolds. His Iraq speech moments ago was brilliant. The math is still very much in his favor, but Pennsylvania could still be a huge hurdle for him to overcome. Even if Clinton wins PA by 40% (i.e. C 70% O 30%), it will still be very difficult for her to catch him, and a win of that order is very difficult to come by.
The Gallup and Rasmussen tracking polls both have Barack Obama at 50% today.
Gallup:
Barack Obama leads Hillary Clinton in national Democratic nomination preferences by a statistically significant 6-percentage point margin, 50% to 44%, according to Gallup Poll Daily tracking interviews from March 11-13.
Rasmussen:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Barack Obama leading Hillary Clinton 50% to 42% in the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination (see recent daily results). This is the first time Obama has ever reached 50% in fifteen months of daily polling on the race.
Both are in a tie with McCain in the polls.
